Issues Dealt With This Month

  • Unit A members are not required to collect evidence for standards 3 & 4 and are deemed proficient by contract language.
  • Many questions regarding co-teaching/team teaching: Is it voluntary?, Do I get coverage when my co-teacher is absent or at a meeting?, If my responsibilities as a SPED teacher are now equal to that of an academic teacher, why must I also do liaison work?, How can the district support this type of expensive classroom and then layoff staff?, What is the class size for a co-taught classroom? We are looking to demand to bargain over these new responsibilities and working conditions.
  • If there is a delay due to weather and you call out, you lose the entire day of time- not just the delay time.
  • RIF Process- we are looking into health insurance for staff who get pink-slipped
