10 Minute Meetings

SOA Committee – Student Opportunity Act is passed into law. Chicopee is due $34 million in the next 7 years. It rewrites the formula so it will increase with inflation and will not be ending.

We were #1 in getting this bill passed and we need to be a voice. We need to think big and bridge the communication gap. We want people from all levels, all job descriptions, all content.

Members Masters of 30+ Credits – Broadway says they have no way to determine this as each university does something different. If first Masters is more than standard 33 credits, we can bump their salary columns.

Waiver Issues for PTS and Retirement – District needs to pay members who have been paying into retirement, but shouldn’t be due to waiver status.

Mr. Rege’s Retirement – Invitation includes dinner and gift.

Christmas Party – Tim will supply music.

MTRS Retirement Consultant – Will be coming to the district.

Lockdown Kit Update – It was told that we would have received it by Thanksgiving. Now updated to second week of December.

Ransomware Update – Last update from Andrew Vernon is that telecom is working on 180 and building offices. It encrypts all software and cannot be viewed or used. District is not upgrading from Windows 7, leaving vulnerable to future attacks.

Concern over lost teaching time and lost data from network H-drive.

Winter Conference Team – Trying to get enough members to attend this bargaining conference. January 11, 2020 in Springfield.

Old Business

Consent Agenda

Accepted without opposition.

Next meeting at The Elks, January 8
