President’s Remarks

Agenda passed without objection

Laura Demakis absent as NEA RA delegate pre-meeting. We’ve made a lot of strong waves in Chicopee. They can’t ignore us as long as we stay united.

 

Treasurer Report

Currently no effort to raise local dues. MTA increased dues by $3.

MTA Report

Annual Meeting was a good opportunity for organizing and seeing larger democracy.

Next year’s Annual Meeting is in Springfield.

New Business

MTA Push for Funding – Encourage your state reps to support the Promise (PreK-12) and Cherish Acts (Higher Ed).

Building list of who to call.

Recommend 10 minute calling party before or after school.

Call Jason Mathas by the end of next week to pick up info.

Proposed Dues Timeline Bylaw Amendment – Passed 116:44

 

Proposed Agency Fee Bylaw Amendment – Passed 140:20

 

Retro Pay for A and E – Should be included as a separate check with the next check. This retro should be 1% of last year’s salary.

Admin given a 2% raise. They said admin wouldn’t receive that until CEA receives retro. They received it almost immediately.

ULP is still moving forward. Asking for compensation for all members, a public apology, assurances for future negotiations, and audit of process at 180 Broadway and City Treasurer.

 

Spring Fling – Moose Lodge on June 17. Hang out and enjoy catered food. Answer via the Google Form Laura sent out. Extra raffle tickets for those who call.

 

You can always request union representation during a meeting with admin. If the meeting continues, you can be silent during the meeting and let Laura know ASAP. Do not leave the meeting until dismissed, otherwise it could be viewed as insubordination.

 

James Clark called a point of personal privilege. In his 26 years in the CEA, this board has been one of the best. He is pleased with the direction it is going.
