Grievance Report-Chicopee Education Association

Grievance 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 6A, 7A Moved to Level 4 due to lack of response from administration.  Unit A members are being escrowed out due to having less than 5 days of sick time. The Association asserts that the district’s  unpublished policy of escrowing out veteran teachers is punitive in that it monetarily punishes staff for an anticipated owing of money to the district if the staff member goes beyond their allotted sick time. Staff are unprepared to deal with this unexpected and catastrophic financial burden in the middle of the school year as there is no written agreement of the practice. Unit A staff are contractually entitled to 21 equal bi-weekly paychecks.

Grievance 5A- Denied at Level 3; Moved to Level 4-transference of work from Unit A to Unit E

Grievance 1E-Level 3ResolvedCoverage for Substitute Paraprofessionals– Management is paying substitute paraprofessionals- in some schools- class coverage rate when covering for a teacher.

Grievance 8A Level 2- Evaluation Grievance– unfair/invalid evaluation.

Grievance 9A- Suspension Grievance Level 2- lack of consistent enforcement of building and district directives on the part of management.
